confidential, for the present at least, but its main
recommendation is that the University should be
re-established. The Secretary of State has not yet
seen the Committee's Report and it will of course
have to be considered in conjunction with other
Departments, but I understand that there is a good
prospect that the University will be re-opened soon.
Our hope is that this will be in January
next and I think that, if you agree, this would be a
